Let the cleanse begin!

I have been meaning to do some sort of a cleanse for a week now, since the Christmas break really ended and the source of all of the readily-available junk food have all returned to their own homes and taken their containers of deliciousness with them. Which is good! It means less junk food lying around here for me to snack on (believe me, we sure got enough as gifts!).
But sugar is a difficult habit to break! I have been noticing my body actually craving sweets since the new year hit. Granted, I still have a fair bit of junk food lying around the apartment (it's taking a while to get through it all, in the interests of not binging and eating it all in one sitting), but it's still MUCH more junk food than my body is used to these days!
That's why a juice/smoothie "cleanse" is perfect! I can start off with juices that are sweeter, with more fruits and maybe less veggies and greens, so as not to shock my system. Adding things like coconut water will provide electrolytes, and things like flaxseed and chia seeds add fibre (plus all of the fibre from the fruits and veggies!).
Today's lunch was a perfect way to really get started. After I got home from the farmer's market, I whipped up this delicious concoction. It's simple, but VERY yummy! Strawberries, spinach, coconut Greek yogurt. Nothin' but nutrients. Try it out for yourself!
Strawberry-Spinach Smoothie:
· 4 cups baby spinach leaves
· 1 – 2 cups strawberries, cut in half
· ½ vanilla bean
· 2 cups oat milk
· Ice cubes
1) Add all ingredients to a blender
2) Process until smooth, adding milk until the desired consistency is reached
3) Add half a strawberry to the side of the glass for garnish and serve immediately
